Cockroach Pest Control
Cockroaches are a pest that nobody wants in their home, they spread diseases such as E. Coli, Hepatitis, Salmonella and dysentery. All in all, these are not welcome in our homes and if left untreated can breed at an astronomical rate. They are very secretive pests but the 2 things you can guarantee is they will be near a food source and around water.
New Zealand does have its native species that are not often seen or regarded as a household pest. The cockroaches that cause us the most issues are the American cockroach and the German cockroach. These live in dark and damp places such as under fridge freezers and around cookers where crumbs may spill.
How We Treat Cockroaches
Treating cockroaches is a little trickier than most other pests, this is down to the breeding cycle of the roaches and the simple resistance they have built up over the last 90 million years. If you can survive for that long you must be tough.
The way to treat these is where we work in conjunction with the homeowner, We can use a mixture of gel, sprays and dust but eventually, they will come back if they have a good food source and a nice place to breed. Closing off all access points to the home and cleaning up food waste are critical to a successful control programme. Stopping all sources of water and removing rubbish will assist greatly in controlling cockroaches.
